My Merc mechanic gave me his 500 for a loaner, that thing drank fuel.

My M3 gets about 14 mpg around town, I’m used to thirsty teutonic beasts.

And here I thought they only looked good on monoblocks.

I would renounce my BMW ownership and enthusiasm for a 500E. Such bitchin’ cars, that 4-cam M119 is a monster.

I saw one at a gas station near me a couple of years ago. I was pretty much drooling. I wouldn’t renounce my BMW for one, but I would buy the hell out of one if I had the opportunity.

Me too. I’ve had BMWs my whole driving life, but I’ll be damned if these things aren’t cool. A 2-gear kickdown in a 500E is something special, and as much love as I have for the 5-series of this era, the W124 is the better car.

I was driving home the other day and did the 6th down shift to second at like 50, it was pretty great. It just wants to go at that speed.

I can’t find a picture, but I’m sure it’d look good.

Couldn’t find a classic, but they do look good on this.

Mine Merc is a diesel so I was pretty surprised how quick I was down a quarter tank.
